The Roccoco Story
Jacine Greenwood had always believed that nature holds many plants that have potent skin benefits. Jacine’s vision was to create a botanical based range that effectively managed skin without the risk of acne breakout’s. After extensive post graduate study Jacine discovered that many products for skin rejuvenation were not suited for those who were acne prone due to the ingredients they contained.
When Jacine started this mission she had no formal qualifications in cosmetic chemistry. Self taught she began formulating products. Since then, Jacine undertook formal training in cosmetic chemistry and is now a cosmetic chemist whose knowledge is highly respected in the industry.
Roccoco was formulated with the aim of providing quality skin care that was safe for acneic skins and for those who were hyper-sensitive. Jacine’s children Corrine and Stuart both have eczema, so providing products that were gentle on compromised skins was of utmost importance.
Roccoco has a stronger focus on being safe for allergies than it does on being natural. Whilst natural ingredients are our preferred there are many natural products that can create rashes and sensitivities in those who are prone to it.
Roccoco are one of the few natural products that do not believe in peeling the skin. Peeling the skin causes the skin to be stressed and inflamed. Our in salon protocol for treating acne does not rely on peels or Benzoyl Peroxide. Instead we use plants that are known for their skin soothing properties.
Our protocol focuses on keeping the skin barrier intact and selective use of actives. Skin is exfoliated gently with enzymes. The benefit of enzymes is that they will not harm living tissue and only work on the skin cells that are no longer requried.
Many products are a band aid approach in that they treat the symptoms presenting and not the “root” cause or trigger.
Every skin treatment we have developed always starts with targeting the initial trigger or root cause. This method allows for gentler treatment and less risk of adverse reactions. It also means the problem is addressed when it is just beginning rather than when it has snowballed into a massive problem. Our method is what we consider to be holistic in that it takes all of the skins responses into consideration.
